YOUNGSTOWN, OH – Youngstown State University athletics have commissioned Rojo Research to perform a fan study in an effort to support sponsorship initiatives as well as focus on marketing, media consumption, ticket sales, promotion, and game day experience.

“Youngstown State has a remarkable athletics tradition, football in particular” remarks John Herron, CEO of Rojo Research, referring to the Penguins’ four Division II national championships and twice national runner-up. “We are pleased Youngstown State has retained our services, and look forward to assist the program in whatever capacity possible.”

Founded in 1908, Youngstown State University has a student population of over 14,000 students and offer approximately 100 undergraduate degrees and 40 graduate degrees.

Notable Youngstown State University alumni include astronomer Thomas Bopp, co-discoverer of Comet Hale-Bopp; former Notre Dame head football coach Bob Davies; Major League Baseball All-Star pitcher Dave Dravecky; astronaut Rom Parise; Riyad Mansour, Representative to the United Nations from Palestine; former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski; and actor Ed O’Neill, best known for his role of Al Bundy on the TV sitcom Married…With Children.

Youngstown State University sponsors 12 NCAA Division I men’s and women’s sports, and is a member of the Horizon League as well as the Missouri Valley Football Conference. In addition to the program football prowess, The Penguins have won five of the last six Horizon League women’s track and field championships.

The unique nickname “Penguins” are the only such moniker in NCAA Division I athletics.

YSU is the ninth Horizon League member to partner with Rojo Research joining Butler, Cleveland State, Loyola University Chicago, University of Detroit Mercy, University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, Wright State, and Valparaiso.

Youngstown State is Rojo’s fourth collegiate client from the Buckeye State joining Bowling Green, Cleveland State, and Wright State.
