GEORGE MASON TO AGGRESSIVELY PURSUE SPONSORSHIP REVENUE
PATRIOTS COMMISSION FAN RESEARCH STUDY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 20, 2011
Fairfax, VA – George Mason University Athletics has requested Rojo Research of Portland, OR to perform a fan consumer behavior study in effort to support its corporate sponsorship sales initiatives.

“Rojo Research is very excited to partner with George Mason." remarks John Herron, CEO of Rojo Research.

"Even with the recent success of the Patriot’s men’s basketball team, the greater Washington D.C. market is very competitive in regards to sponsorships.”

"We look forward to help the program illustrate the immense value their fan base as a highly desirable audience to prospective marketers.”

George Mason University athletic teams are a member of the Colonial Athletic Association. The Patriots have won two NCAA national championships - women’s soccer in 1985 and men’s indoor track and field in 1996.

The program may be best known for the 2005-2006 men’s basketball team run to the Final Four. The Patriots are only one of three 11-seed teams to reach the Final Four, joining the 1986 LSU Tigers and the 2011 Virginia Commonwealth Rams.

Founded in 1956 as a branch of the University of Virginia, George Mason University has a student population of more than 20,000 undergraduate students and 12,000 postgraduate students.

The university’s namesake, George Mason IV, was a patriot, statesmen, and Virginia delegate to the U.S Constitutional Convention. Mason is known as the “Father of the Bill of Rights”, and is considered one of the “Founding Fathers” of the United States.

Noted alumni include Anna Cabral, the 42nd Treasurer of the United States, Kathleen Casey; Commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; Karl Rove, former Deputy Chief of Staff to President George W. Bush; Steve Ricchetti, former Deputy Chief of Staff to President Bill Clinton; Miss Virginia 2002 Jennifer Pitts; Miss Virginia 2005 Kristi Lauren Glakas; Miss Virginia 2009 Maegan Phillips; and Furqan Ahmed Nizami, Vice President, National Bank of Pakistan.

Launched in September 2006, Rojo Research has quickly risen to one of the largest providers of audience research for NCAA member institutions and professional sports organizations with over 80 partners throughout the U.S and Canada.

A few of Rojo’s collegiate clients include Army, Mississippi State, Lamar, Wright State, Niagara, Saint Mary’s, Valpo, Belmont, Liberty, Boise State, and Towson.
